Obituary for Lynne Stone

IN LOVING MEMORY OF LYNNE ESTHER ALICE ROWE MOULTON STONE

August 7, 1940 – March 7, 2021

Lynne Moulton Stone, 80, of Clayton, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. She was born on August 7, 1940 in Sydney, Australia, daughter of William Rowe and Linda DuPort. As an adopted daughter to Albert Moulton, Lynne and her family immigrated to the United States when she was a young child and she ultimately made her home in Durham, North Carolina.

Lynne married Walter M. Stone, Sr., in 1955, was a devoted wife and was married to him for 45 years until his death in 2000. Lynne was a loving mother to her six children: Walter Stone, Jr., Wanda Brandt, Bonnie Charlton, Sandra Rowe, Lisa Vajdl and Shawn Stone. Lynne was a skilled homemaker and cosmetologist.

Lynne was a very special and strong spirited lady and over the years had several cherished nicknames: Bantam Rooster, Grasshopper and Lightning. She loved to read and learn and instilled that trait in her children. Lynne’s recent favorite pastime was crossword puzzles and she mastered thousands of them. She loved to cook and always showed her devoted love to family, friends, and neighbors by sharing her favorite meals with them. Among many delicious recipes in her repertoire, and she had many, Lynne made the best Eastern North Carolina Brunswick Stew in the state!

Lynne was well loved and is survived by brothers, sisters and spouses, her children and spouses, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great, grandchildren and the many cherished friends in her neighborhood. Lynne’s family legacy will continue, and her loving memory will live on in our hearts forever.
May she rest in eternal peace.

Services will be private.
