Obituary

Patricia C. Carter, age 81, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Prior to living in Raleigh for five years, Pat lived for 18 years in Cedaredge, CO; Laurens, SC for 18 years; and 15 years in Addison, VT. She was born to Milton and Elsie Surridge Cargill on Tuesday, January 31, 1939 in Possaic, NJ. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Richard Albert Carter of Cedaredge, CO and son James Richard Carter of Columbia, SC. Survived by son David Carter and daughter-in-law Lisa Carter of Raleigh, NC, granddaughters Corinne Carter of Greensboro, NC and Kathryn Carter of Raleigh, NC. Pat was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, an avid seamstress and quilter, 4-H volunteer, and taught elementary school for 29 years in NJ, VT and SC. A graveside service will be held in Cedaredge, CO at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pat Carter’s honor to Eckert Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 7, Eckert, CO 81418.
